"It made the windows rattle and then I went out and looked and I saw the things going around at the top. Then I told my husband 'Hey there's a helicopter here at our neighbors," said Estella Whitmoyer.
It turns out it was an Army National Guard Apache helicopter.
As curious neighbors began arriving, the pilot politely informed them that he had no choice but to make an emergency landing with his AH -64 Apache after detecting a hydraulic leak.
Moments later more helicopters arrived. It was the military equivalent of AAA Roadside Assistance.
"Then a Blackhawk, I think it was, came down in a back field and brought the parts and a whole bunch of guys went out and fixed the helicopter. It was really amazing," said Michele Heim.
A neighbor who owns a production company, Imageworks Film and Video, shot pictures of the helicopter.
It took the repair crew about an hour to make the needed repairs, then the $15 million attack helicopter was back in the air, bound for its base in Fort Indiantown Gap, Lebanon County.
Neighbors here in Brownsville say that was about as much excitement as you'll ever see in these parts.
"The cars went past and they slowed down and looked over," said Pearl Earnst.
