2 men charged with defrauding investors

WILMINGTON, Del. - June 16, 2010

The state Attorney General's Office charged 38-year-old Thomas Dolby of Smyrna with securities fraud, theft and racketeering on Tuesday. Officials say he took more than $400,000 from investors for a supposed real estate deal in Turkey. They say he diverted the money for personal use, was not registered to sell securities in the state and did not register his supposed investments.

Officials also charged 49-year-old Robert Smithfield of Mountville, Pa., with securities fraud and theft. Officials say he took more than $60,000 from investors. They say he used money from some investors to make interest payment to others to keep the supposed deal going.
