Informant wearing wire helped AC vote fraud probe

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - June 16, 2010

The Press of Atlantic City, citing a state investigative report, says Edward Colon Jr. was working for Councilman Marty Small's mayoral campaign and secretly recording conversations with Small and others about alleged voting fraud.

Small and several others from his unsuccessful campaign were indicted and are awaiting trial.

The report cites conversations in which two campaign workers instructed Colon to get voters to sign absentee ballots, and then fill out the rest himself.

Small has pleaded not guilty, and told the newspaper he would not be "dumb" enough to engage in such conduct.
