Bridal gown sale benefits breast cancer patients

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - June 18, 2010

Those are just a few of the deals available at this weekend's Brides Against Breast Cancer sale at the Radisson Valley Forge.

In all, some 800 gowns will be for sale. Proceeds benefit the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation.

"The money that we raise goes to something wonderful," explains Allison Caudle of Brides Against Breast Cancer. "We grant wishes for Stage Four breast cancer patients for whom the cure is no longer available. So we provde trips for them, washing machines, video cameras, anything they wish for, we grant."

Along with the racks of couture gowns, there are flower girl dresses for $40, and more affordable wedding dresses, with prices starting at just $200.

"There's something for everyone: strapless, halters, sleeves, tank dresses, beads, no beads, lace," Caudle says. "You name it, we got it. We have over 100 manufacturers."

Sizes range from four to 40. The dresses are donated by manufacturers, bridal shops and individuals. Most are new, but a few are pre-owned.

All are discounted 50 percent to 75 percent. Plus, the sale includes accessories. "You could buy a whole bundle for under $500 and walk out of here with a veil, tiara, dress and shoes," Caudle says.

The sale is in the Independence Ballroom at the Radisson Valley Forge, at 1160 First Avenue in King of Prussia, Pa. Hours are 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010, and 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010. Admission is free.
