Police: Man driving child while high on pot, PCP

BENSALEM, Pa. - June 18, 2010

Daniel Lopez, 23, of the 1100 block of Tabor Street in Bensalem was arrested on Thursday night.

It was around 8:50 p.m. when a Bensalem police officer saw Lopez's 1992 Lexus stopped in the middle of Route 1, partially parked on the concrete median.

Upon approaching the car, the officer saw a 2-year-old girl in a car seat, and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

The officer said, when he tried to talk to Lopez, he could barely speak.

Police say further investigation revealed that Lopez was smoking marijuana laced with PCP, in a mixture known as "wet weed" while he was transporting a child.

Lopez was arrested and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.

The girl did not suffer any injuries and was released to her mother.
