Closing arguments are under way in a trial over the Boy Scouts' ban on gays.
The city wants to evict the local scouts from their city-owned headquarters building or make them pay rent unless they renounce the national Boy Scout policy banning gays.
The scouts say they can legally limit their membership. And they say the city has more urgent priorities, from juvenile crime to high dropout rates.
The local Cradle of Liberty Council has tried to walk a fine line to retain city support without losing their national Boy Scouts charter.
The seven-day trial caps years of unsuccessful negotiations between the two sides.
