It's one of those cases where the medicine is necessary but painful too.
Charles Anderson/Chestnut Hill told Action News, "Now I'm just finding out right now, so it's going to be a good time tomorrow morning."
If you live in an area, like Charles Anderson, where you depend on Lincoln Drive to head south, you'll need to get up and get out a little earlier.
Shortly after 9 a.m. today, the southbound traffic was detoured off the drive onto Ridge Avenue.
PennDOT says if you can't avoid it, you'll still be able to get to Kelly Drive or City Avenue. You'll just have to tack on an extra 20 minutes to your commute.
Officials say the Gustine Lake Interchange, which sees 100,000 motorists a day, must replace its four bridges.
"These are four bridges... (are in) very poor condition," according to Eugene Blaum of PennDOT.
Construction on one of them has already begun, right in front of Debbie Biers home.
"I don't drive, I take the bus," Biers said. But she added, "You've got to watch things aren't falling on your head. It's been a real mess, but I guess in the long run it's worth it."
