Police: Assault victim took picture of attackers

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - June 25, 2010

Police were called to the King of Prussia Plaza area of Mall Boulevard because of union protestors blocking the entranceway to the new Toys R Us construction site.

While en route to that location, police received a report of an assault taking place nearby.

Once there, officers found two construction trucks with their rear windows completely shattered and glass in the parking lot.

Police say numerous males were standing by the vehicles with one victim noticeably bent over in pain and bleeding from the head area.

The victims told police that they attempted to enter the construction site, but were blocked by numerous union protestors who refused to move out of the way. Both workers decided to leave the area and drive over to a nearby lot to await police.

While waiting for police, the victims say a black sedan pulled up and several white males exited with baseball bats. The attackers ran up to the trucks and shattered both rear windows on both trucks with multiple blows from the bat.

As the workers exited the trucks in fear, at least two were then physically assaulted with the baseball bats. Prior to the vehicle leaving the scene, one of the victims was able to use his cell phone to photograph the suspects and their vehicle.

As a result of the incident, one of the victims was taken to the University of Pennsylvania for treatment.

The construction site is being protested by Local 401 of the Iron Workers Union.

The vehicle is described as a black Chevrolet four door sedan with a Pennsylvania license plate. One of the suspects is described as a male in his mid-30's, clean shaven with short blondish brown hair, 6'1, and husky build.

Anyone having information on the identity of the attackers is asked to contact Detective James Godby of the Upper Merion Township Police Department at 610-265-3232.
