Bank robber spotted after dye pack explodes

WEST PHILADELPHIA - June 29, 2010

The robbery happened around 12:26 p.m. at the Sovereign Bank branch in the 3100 block of Market Street in West Philadelphia.

Police tell Action News that a man went into the bank with a demand note.

The teller gave the man an undetermined amount of cash, and he fled west on Market Street.

At one point, a dye pack exploded on the robber.

Responding officers from the Drexel University Police quickly spotted him covered in dye, and arrested him a few blocks from the bank.

The name of the suspect arrested has not been released.
