Last week, on top of finding out his cancer had spread, Jason LaMonaca also discovered his mother's home in Folcroft was robbed.
"They got away with my mom's jewelry, some personal items belonging to the family and cash," LaMonaca said.
The cash stolen was the money LaMonaca was planning to use for his medical treatment.
$1,700 of the $2,000 raised especially for him is now gone.
"It stunk because the money was just given to me by a few friends who had actually ran a marathon to raise this money," LaMonaca said.
Right now, he says police have no leads and it couldn't come at a worse time.
As LaMonaca's medical bills rise, his income is shrinking.
"I needed the money, I wasn't running around telling people I need money, but I wasn't getting to working, I used up my sick days and vacation days, and if I wasn't going to work. I wasn't getting paid," LaMonaca said.
Fortunately, this week he was strong enough to go back to work.
But it's going to be a tough road for the 38-year-old as he gets ready for a new series of chemotherapy.
" I don't know how severe it's going to be, I'm not sure if I'll be able to work one day a week, two days. I don't know, but we'll find out," LaMonaca said.

LaMonacapalooza Sunday August 15, from 6 - 10 PM at the Deck at Harbor Pointe (formerly the Lagoon) in Essington, PA. There will be a benefit with a silent auction, open bar, buffet, and performances by a select few artists.
