Officers were called to break up a fight on the 500 block of South Street around 2 o'clock Saturday morning.
When they arrived, investigators say a handful of people turned on the officers. One person allegedly punched an officer. Another person jumped on an officer. And bottles were hurled at the officers.
They called for backup to subdue the unruly crowd.
Four men and a woman were arrested. Charges have not been announced.
Police say the incident was not a flash mob.
