Woman charged in death of NJ DOT worker

BELLMAWR, N.J. - July 9, 2010

Alyson Amour, 28, of Berlin, New Jersey, surrendered to NJ State Police on Friday. She is also charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

The charges stem from the death of 45-year-old Joseph Kealy on the afternoon of January 11th.

Police say, shortly after 1:00 p.m., Amour went onto the shoulder and struck and killed Kealy, who was standing at the rear of his marked NJ DOT emergency truck on Interstate 76 in Bellmawr, Camden County.

The DOT vehicle then hit a minivan, injuring two women inside.

Police say troopers at the scene of the crash discovered wax paper folds, typically used to package heroin, and a syringe in Amour's vehicle. Lab tests of her blood found the presence of morphine, investigators added.

Amour was charged in January with motor vehicle offenses including driving while intoxicated.
