Person killed by Amtrak train in central NJ

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. (AP) - July 9, 2010

Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole said an unidentified person was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train around 3:20 p.m. Friday. The fatality occurred not far from the station in Woodbridge and was being investigated by police in that Middlesex County community.

Cole said 170 passengers were aboard the train, which was headed from New York to Philadelphia, but no injuries were reported.

Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains on the Northeast Corridor line were delayed up to 30 minutes during Friday's evening rush. But trains were running on or close to schedule by 8:30 p.m.
