Group hopes to save historic wooden Pa. coaster

CONNEAUT LAKE, Pa. (AP) - July 16, 2010

The Trustees of Conneaut Lake Park say they can get a $50,000 grant to help refurbish the Blue Streak (American Coaster Enthusiasts listing for Blue Streak), which is the sixth oldest wooden roller coaster in the country. All they need is people to go online and vote in a grant project sponsored by Pepsi at http://www.refresheverything.com

In all the trustees hope to raise $125,000 to complete the restoration of the Blue Streak and provide off-season maintenance for the coaster. The Blue Streak has been idle since 2006, although the park is open.

Conneaut Lake Park is the 12th oldest amusement park in the U.S. It has been plagued by financial problems in recent years.
