Test run for Pa. casinos table games

CHESTER, Pa. - July 16, 2010

At Harrah's Chester, patrons took part in a test run of table games on Friday.

"It's the greatest thing that could happen because I play cards a lot and this will keep this place going," Herbert Coziol of Upland, Pa. said.

"I don't have too much luck with slot machines so I came here to play the tables," Rayvon Sapp of West Philadelphia said.

For the past six months, the casino has been preparing and training dealers for this very day.

With the Gaming Control Board at each table, the stakes were high.

"We're pretty confident that we've done our due diligence in preparing for this and we've taken our direction from the Gaming Board extremely well," Harrah's Vice President of Table Games, Robert Guidice, said.

A green light for Harrah's and the two other Pennsylvania casinos getting tested will mean millions in revenue and hundreds of new jobs.

But it also means more competition for places like Atlantic City, which has already experienced a drop in revenue.

"Why should I go down to Atlantic City when I live right near here?" Coziol said.

The Gaming Board doesn't seem to think this will have an impact on Atlantic City because they believe gamblers like variety. In the meantime, Harrah's will know if they've received the green light by Saturday afternoon.
