Eastern Pa. DA says shooting by police justified

READING, Pa. - July 20, 2010

Police say an officer responding to a 2:36 a.m. Saturday call about a man with a gun tried to stop 26-year-old Tyron Stevenson and chased him on foot. Police say Stevenson fired a shot at the officer, who returned fire and killed the suspect.

Berks County District Attorney John Adams says police were responding to a call of an armed robbery, and the officer fired after Stevenson fired at him. Adams says the "most troubling" aspect of the case is that the suspect had an illegal gun.
