Authorities say a southern New Jersey police officer found shot to death inside his home committed suicide.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel says an autopsy performed by the county medical examiner's office determined that Ventnor Police Officer Justin Brown died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Brown was found early Wednesday inside his Galloway Township residence, but further details were not disclosed.

The 29-year-old Galloway Township resident was a four-year veteran of the police department.
