Serial robber strikes store three times

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - July 21, 2010

After the first robbery in May, the family, who owns Grace Dollar on Bustleton Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, installed surveillance cameras, but that has not stopped the brazen man.

The second robbery took place on July 10th. The man, concealed by a sweatshirt, walked in to the store and pointed a gun at the father, while the daughter was ordered to empty the register. Just like in the first robbery, the man made off with $200.

A week later, the suspect was back for the third time. Surveillance video shows that he grabbed a gun from his waistband, pressed it into the mother's back, and ordered the daughter, again, to empty the register. The video shows the man refused the cash several times, telling the daughter there should be more as he continued to threaten her mother with the handgun. After more bills are tossed in, as well as coins, the man finally accepted the bag and fled on foot with $75.

All of these robberies happened in broad daylight.

"This guy is brazen. He's gotten away before without getting caught, and we'd like to stop him before he strikes again," Sgt. Joseph Green of the Philadelphia Police Department said.
