That was no filling pump hose at a New York City gas station.

It was a five-foot-long python. The big snake was spotted near some garbage at the gas station on East 161st Street in the Melrose section of the Bronx.

Police managed to wrangle the python into a box and send it to an animal shelter.

It will get a check-up and be moved to a habitat far from the Big Apple. Authorities think the python was a pet set free by its owner.
