The attack happened around 5:30 a.m. Thursday in the 800 block of West 7 ½ Street.
The 32-year-old victim told police she was walking to a friend's house when a man offered her a ride.
She accepted the ride, and began walking to the suspect's vehicle.
The victim said that's when her attacker grabbed her by the arm, forced her into the alley, and sexually assaulted her.
The woman said she managed to get away and run to Wilmington Hospital. The attacker fled in an unknown direction.
The man is described as black man between 5'10" and 6'0" tall. He had a stocky build, medium complexion, and appeared to be in his mid-to-late 20s. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
