5-year-old dead after minivan overturns

Chopper 6 HD was over a fatal minivan crash on the Pa. Turnpike. It happened in the westbound lanes near the Morgantown Exit on the afternoon of July 26, 2010.

One child is dead and several other adults and children injured after a minivan overturned on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

It happened just before 4:00 p.m. Monday in the westbound lanes approaching the Morgantown interchange in East Nantmeal.

State police say 20-year-old Cynthia Eure of Philadelphia was driving a 2000 Chrysler minivan when it appeared to have a rear tire blow out. Eure lost control of the van and it overturned onto the shoulder.

A 5-year-old boy was unrestrained and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eure and three other adults received minor injuries.

There was also a 9-year-old boy who suffered minor injuries. A 2-year-old girl, not in a child seat ,with minor injuries and an 8-month-old baby, in a child seat with minor injuries. The investigation continues.

Parts of the turnpike was shut down while rescuers tended to the victims and cleared the wreckage.
