Most problems related to record keeping rather than care of the animals.
A U.S. Department of Agiculture inspection conducted June 24 found that records showed one primate was not given enough water and another may have received inadequate painkillers after surgery.
Some animals also underwent multiple surgical procedures when research proposals indicated there would be only one.
The USDA gave the university high marks for the cleanliness of its labs and the general health of its research animals. They include macaques, marmosets, guinea pigs, rats, mice and salamanders.
University spokeswoman Emily Aronson says the flaws are being fixed.
