Police investigate apparent double murder in Frankford

FRANKFORD - August 1, 2010 Police are not releasing the names nor the relations between to the victims until the family is notified.

The bodies of the two, a man and a woman, were found inside a home, both shot multiple times.

A 54-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were killed in what investigators describe as a barrage of bullets. They believe a domestic incident turned deadly.

Relatives of the victims arrived at the scene Sunday morning on the 4600 block of Leiper Street, overcome with emotion. Just hours earlier, prompted by repeated unanswered phone calls, a friend of the female victim smashed a window and went inside the home. There, in separate rooms, they made the gruesome discovery - two bodies riddled with bullets.

Evidence of the crime was visible from the sidewalk. A window pain was pierced by gunfire.

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told Action News that he heard the struggle.

"Might have been 10:30, 11:00 last night. I heard some glass shatter and I heard some arguing, between a male and a female... I was cooking chicken in the back, so I come up front. By the time I got there I could see a green car taking off down the street."

Police are now said to be focused on the relationship between the two victims and a second man with whom the female victim was somehow involved.

Neighbors, several of whom declined to speak on camera, say the woman who lived there was normally quiet, renting rooms to younger tenants, occasionally hosting backyard barbecues - always quick to strike up a conversation.

While no suspects have been named, one detective told Action News that police know just who they're looking for.
