The boy, Justin Montgomery, 15, was hit along Route 50 at mile marker 25 in front of the 4-H Fairgrounds in Hamilton Township, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel stated Saturday.
Montgomery died at the scene just before 9:30 p.m.
Investigators think Montgomery was hit by a silver 4-door Dodge Dakota made sometime between 2005 and 2009.
The vehicle was traveling south when the accident happened at about 9:15 p.m. Police think the vehicle could have "substantial" front-end damage on the passenger-side.
