16 charged with DUI at Del. sobriety checkpoint

WILMINGTON, Del. - August 8, 2010

Newport Police Chief Michael Capriglione says more than 330 cars passed through the Checkpoint Strikeforce checkpoint at Northeast and Gov. Printz boulevards in Wilmington from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.

Capriglione, who heads the strike force, says 44 motorists were detained for further investigation of drunken driving and another 16 charged with driving under the influence. Police also arrested eight people who had active criminal warrants, 11 on drug charges and 66 for minor criminal and traffic citations.
