Woman finds teeth inside can of tuna?

August 24, 2010 When you open a can of tuna, you expect to find tuna. One West Chester woman says she got more than she bargained for when she popped open the can on Monday.

Jean Dawson says she found what looked like teeth in her can of Bumble Bee Tuna.

She says she was eating homemade tuna salad when she felt something strange.

"I swallowed and it got caught in my throat," she said. "I was in agony and I'm still in agony and in very much pain and there was a little trickle of blood and stuff because I really had to grab it to get it out of my own throat."

Dawson contacted Bumble Bee Foods, which sent her a complaint form and asked her to send them the teeth to be analyzed.

She refused, so Action News sent Bumble Bee a picture of the so-called teeth. The company sent this response Tuesday afternoon:

"The image provided was reviewed... and identified to be vertebrae bone from the fish. It is not a tooth."

Bumble Bee went on to say it holds its products to the highest quality standards and despite its best efforts, sometimes bones get through.
