Suspected serial bank robber arrested

The August 17th robbery of the TD Bank branch at 710 Old York Road. The FBI says Anthony Wayne Ransom is their suspect in a string of recent bank holdups.

The man wanted for a series of bank robberies in the Philadelphia region has been arrested.

The FBI announced the arrest of Anthony Wayne Ransom, 44, on Friday.

He was placed into custody after turning himself in to police in Reading, Pa. on Thursday night. He was charged with four bank robberies.

The most recent robbery in which Ransom is a suspect happened Tuesday, August 17th, at the TD Bank branch at 710 Old York Road in Abington.

Ransom is also suspected in robberies at the FirstTrust Bank branch in the Pavilion at 261 Old York Road ion August 12 and the PNC Bank branch located at 123 Old York Road on July 19th.

He was previously charged in a July 12th robbery at the Citizens Bank branch located at 2516 Welsh Road in Philadelphia.

Ransom was also being sought for escaping from the custody of a federal half-way house in Philadelphia on June 27th.

Ransom is being held in federal custody pending a detention hearing.?
