Eighty-eight-year-old Ernest Rayfield was arraigned Sunday in the slaying of his wife, Mary, earlier in the day at their home in Springfield, Delaware County.
Police say Ernest Rayfield argued with his wife then stabbed her in the chest and called his daughter to tell her what he'd done.
During an interview with officers, police say Ernest Rayfield told investigators he "couldn't take it anymore" and stabbed her several times in the chest.
Ernest Rayfield is being held without bail on criminal homicide charges. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
