Phila. gunfire kills 1, wounds 2 others

WEST PHILADELPHIA - September 1, 2010

Police say a little after midnight, someone opened fire at 52nd and Thompson streets in West Philadelphia, on a 30-year-old man.

The victim was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with bullet wounds to his back and chest, but efforts to save his life failed.

So far, there are no arrests in the case and no word on motives.

At 1:30 on Wednesday morning, police received a report that someone opened fire on two teenagers at 62nd Street and Woodland Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia.

When officers investigated they found a shooting scene nearby at 62nd and Paschall.

A few minutes later the two victims, both said to be 17-years-old, showed up in an Acura at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

One of the men has gunshot wounds in both legs.

The other man has a graze wound to the right leg.

They are both in stable condition.

No word here, either, on motives of suspects.
