Flames broke out around 2:45 a.m. on the unit block of Ohio State Drive.
Numerous fire companies from the area responded to the multi-alarm blaze.
The family of four, including the family dog, was able to escape the fire without harm. However, the home was completely destroyed by the blaze, causing at least a half million dollars in damage to the house.
Fire investigators say the grill was located on the back deck of the home.
