3 charged in Reading teen's murder

READING, Pa. - September 12, 2010

Officers arrived at that location and found the victim, 15-year-old Willy Tineo, lying in the street. The victim had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Several criminal investigators and the Vice Unit were able to obtain evidence and statements that have led to the following individuals being charged with the victim's homicide: Rodrigo Arana, 19, Mario Caballos, 19, and Julio Romero, 21.

At approximately 1:33 a.m., the suspects approached Tineo and some of his friends while they were all walking to a local store.

After a brief conversation, police say Tineo was beaten severely in an unprovoked attack.

It was then that 19-year-old Rodrigo Arana pulled out a handgun and shot the victim numerous times, killing him.

The suspects then robbed the victim of his sneakers as he lay dying. The victim's friends were able to run away and escape without injury.

Assistant District Attorney Dennis Skayhan, who assisted with this investigation, approved the filing of homicide charges against all three defendants.

Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 610-655-6246 or 610-655-6116.
