Grand jury to probe killings in Chester

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - September 17, 2010

Information pertaining to the grand jury is secret except for court documents authorizing the investigative grand jury.

The grand jury has the power to compel testimony from witnesses, who could go to jail if they fail to cooperate. Jury selection will start Nov. 5.

The court papers filed Thursday don't mention specific cases but state that there are "a number of very public unsolved homicides" in Chester in recent months, as well as older unsolved cases.

The victims include a 2-year-old boy shot in the head in June and a 54-year-old paralegal gunned down in 2004.
