NJ Senate seeks subpoena power over failed grant

TRENTON, N.J. - September 20, 2010

Senate Majority Leader Barbara Buono is sponsoring a resolution Monday that would give her Senate Legislative Oversight Committee power to compel top administration officials to appear at Thursday's hearing.

The committee is examining mistakes that may have cost New Jersey a $400 million Race to the Top federal education grant.

Buono says Christie Chief of Staff Rich Bagger and communications director Maria Comella have not responded to requests to appear.

Christie spokesman Kevin Roberts said Friday the governor's office is reviewing the requests.
