Police: serial bank robber in custody

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - September 22, 2010

31-year-old Joseph DiFalco was arrested Wednesday morning.

Police say at 9:35 a.m., a suspec,t later identified as DiFalco, robbed the Royal Bank branch at 6331 Castor Avenue.

Investigation by the FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department led law enforcement to the 3100 Block of Kensington Avenue, where DiFalco was arrested.

DiFalco was the suspect of an intense manhunt by law enforcement in connection with numerous robberies.

The robberies included the Wachovia Bank branch at 2227 South Broad Street onJuly 23rd, the Citizens Bank branch at 10650 Bustleton Avenue on July 26th, the Conestoga Bank branch at 2444 South Broad Street on August 2nd, the CitiBank branch at 2118 Cottman Avenue on August 14th, the M&T Bank branch at 7121 Frankford Avenue on September 2, and today's robbery of the Royal Bank.

Authorities say he was caught on surveillance camera each time.
