It's paper and plastic for now on

STORRS, Conn. (AP) - September 23, 2010

That's what students at UConn will find in the dinning halls starting Monday.

The University of Connecticut is switching to paper plates and plastic silverware to save water.

Connecticut is suffering a drought.

The school says using disposables will mean thousands of dishes won't have to be washed.

UConn serves about 180,000 meals a week in eight dinning halls, to nearly 13,000 students.

The paper plates will stay until the drought eases.
