Woman set on fire dies, daughter sought

BRISTOL, Pa. - October 18, 2010

Police say a woman, who was walking her dog in the wooded area to the rear of Bristol Plaza on Durham Road, called 911 to report a fire in the woods.

On arrival, fire crews discovered a homeless shelter fully engulfed in flames. Fire personnel also found a female a short distance from the scene screaming and on fire.

Crews extinguished the flames on the victim.

The woman was transported to Lower Bucks Hospital for treatment, where she later died.

While she had burns on 50 percent of her body, police say she actually died of head trauma. Burns and cardiovascular disease were listed as secondary causes.

Law enforcement sources tell Action News that they're seeking the whereabouts of the victim's 24-year-old daughter. The source went on to refer to the daughter as a "person of interest."

No one has spoken to the daughter since the death of the victim. Police say she worked as a waitress and often lived with her mother.

The identity of the victim is pending an autopsy, which has not yet been scheduled.

Several people around at another homeless encampment across town knew the victim as "Kim."
