Crews called to apparent fuel slick on Pa. river

HARRISBURG, Pa. - October 20, 2010

Emergency crews responded to a call Tuesday night about an odd-smelling slick on the river. Authorities believe it was some kind of fuel, possibly diesel. Workers deployed booms to isolate the slick.

Harrisburg fire Captain Mick Shrauder tells WHTM-TV that it's unclear if the slick was a result of a leak or came from a storm drain.

Harrisburg's water supply was not affected, but the water plant in Steelton farther down the river was shut down as a precaution.
