Once Upon a Child opens in Maple Shade

MAPLE SHADE, New Jersey - October 22, 2010

These are just some of clothing deals available at the newly-opened "Once Upon A Child" shop in Maple Shade, New Jersey.

Owner Jennifer Frisch, who also owns a Plato's Closet for teens, says her new store works on the same concept.

The store buys gently used items for about a quarter of their new retail price, then re-sells them for about half.

" I think they're becoming very popular because you're getting cash for items that you bring into the store right up front," Frisch says of the growing number of resale shops like hers. "You don't have to worry about using any other outlets, as well as you have a tremedous savings when you come into these stores. And they're nearly perfect, so you feel like you're shopping in a regular retail store."

Once Upon a Child stocks more than clothes. There's a wide selection of just about every kind of baby gear.

A round bassinet is $75.. An Evenflo high chair is $25. And there are toys galore, including a Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead, each in its original box, for $2.50 each.

The store is roomy enough that they buy and sell clothes from all seasons all year-round -- so whether you're in the market for a swimsuit or snowsuits, you'll likely find what you're looking for.

The new Once Upon a Child store is located at 450 South Lenola Road, in Maple Shade, across from the Macy's entrance at the Moorestown Mall.
