Pa. student, 16, seriously injured by school bus

NAZARETH, Pa. - October 27, 2010

Colonial Regional police say Bradley Smith was thrown about 30 feet when he was hit by the bus around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday in front of his home in Lower Nazareth Township, Northampton County.

Deputy Chief James DePalma tells The Express-Times of Easton that Smith was conscious when emergency workers arrived but sustained serious injuries. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Nazareth schools Superintendent Victor Lesky says Smith was hit by a bus carrying students. They were loaded on to another bus and continued to school.

DePalma says officers are reconstructing the crash. No charges have been filed.

According to WFMZ-TV in Allentown, the bus was headed to the Sacred Heart School. It's unclear if the boy went to that school. Witnesses on the scene said the boy may have been home schooled.
