NJ mom gets 7-year prison term in infant's death

Twenty-eight-year-old Tracey Posner of Galloway Township must serve 85 percent of the sentence imposed Friday before she becomes eligible for parole. And once she's released, she will be on supervised parole for another five years.

Posner had pleaded guilty in September to aggravated manslaughter.

The infant's body was found in a plastic bag in the bathroom of Posner's home. Atlantic County prosecutors say Posner gave birth there on Feb. 24, 2009, and authorities discovered the infant's body after Posner sought medical help for herself the next day.

Defense lawyers say Posner was suffering from depression when she hid her pregnancy from a fiance who may not have wanted a child. Posner also claimed that she believed the infant was stillborn.
