Nodl's late goal carries Flyers over Islanders

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - November 6, 2010

Playing at home for only the fifth time in 14 games this season, the Islanders (4-8-2) lost their seventh straight. New York's stay on Long Island was short as the Islanders are heading back out on the road for a three-game trip to California.

Mike Richards added a goal and an assist for the Flyers, and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 31 shots.

Matt Moulson scored the Islanders' lone goal. Dwayne Roloson made 24 saves and earned an assist.

Nodl netted the winner when he put the rebound of Eric Wellwood's shot past Roloson.

The game was physical, but nowhere near as violent as the previous meeting between the teams last week. There were no fights or major penalties in the rematch

.

It was nearly a scoreless first period, but Richards tipped in Chris Pronger's right point slap shot with 68 seconds left.

New York tied it at 7:31 of the second when Moulson ripped a wrist shot from the left circle that got past Bobrovsky during a power play for Moulson's team-leading sixth goal. Roloson was credited with his first point of the season.

NOTES: Flyers RW Daniel Briere served the final game of his three-game suspension, resulting from last week's game against the Islanders. He is eligible to play Sunday at Washington. ... P.A. Parenteau was the only healthy scratch for the Islanders.
