Movember: Moustaches for a good cause

November 16, 2010

It's a campaign that started in Australia. Guys are asked to grow a moustache during the month of November to raise awareness about men's health issues.

Even the Philadelphia Flyers are participating.

We met Dominic Skerritt a Wharton student who is originally from Australia. He grew a handle bar moustache.

"I think it's a fantastic way of raising awareness. Often men are reluctant to speak to doctors, go to the hospital," he said, adding that testicular and prostate cancer are not generally things men feel comfortable talking about but if we raise awareness it helps to get men to speak to their doctors.

That helps find problems earlier when they are more treatable.

Dominic and his classmates have also raised about $5,000 dollars for "Movember." The money goes to the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Livestrong.
