It all started just before 2:00 on Tuesday morning at 13th Street Gourmet Pizza, on the 200 block of South 13th Street.
That's where the suspect grabbed a tip jar that had about $20 to $30 in it, and ran out of the shop.
He then hopped into a grey car and sped off.
Seconds later he reached 13th and Walnut streets, where he plowed into the SEPTA bus, then ricocheted into a fire hydrant.
The force of the crash propelled the bus into a utility pole.
The suspect jumped out of the car and made a run for it.
He remains on the loose.
The collision injured the SEPTA driver.
He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
