Cyber Monday deals and discounts

November 29, 2010

Instead of dealing with crowds and fighting long lines, Cyber Monday is a day to "log on" for the best deals and discounts all from the comforts of your own home.

"Cyber Monday is a fantastic day to shop. All the online stores do their largest coupons and largest sales of the entire holiday shopping season," said Brad Wilson of Bradsdeals.com.

Online retailers have released hundreds of coupons codes that will save you even more money when you shop their sites today. You can find many of those codes on our Saving with 6abc Codes and Coupons page.

According to the National Retail Federation, more than 88-percent of retailers plan to offer a special Cyber Monday promotion, but you have to act today because most of these are 1-day only!

"For example, Brads Deals, we have about 4,500 active coupons," Wilson said.

Wilson scours the internet for all the best deals and puts them on his website Bradsdeals.com.

Some of his top deals include two college sweatshirts at Finish Line for $30, a 10-percent off coupon code at 6pm.com, which rarely offers coupons and Target.com is offering $7 off $70 purchases.

Also, starting today, CVS is offering a special holiday Shopping Pass on Facebook good for 20-percent off almost anything in the store through December 3rd. To get the coupons, all you have to do is "Like" CVS on Facebook sometime before Saturday and click on the "Holiday Pass" tab.

And today on CyberMonday.com, you'll find a section called "Our Favorite Deals" and a "Deal of the hour" promotion featuring a different special sale every 60 minutes.

And, of course, many, many online retailers are offering free shipping today.

Some retailers had already started touting "Cyber Monday," including Amazon.com, which was offering the "Medal of Honor" Xbox 360 game for $34.99, down from $59.99, and a $499 KitchenAid Professional stand mixer for $299.99.

Walmart.com is promoting "Cyber Week" discounts from Sunday through next Friday, including a 24-inch 1080p HDTV for $199.

"What I like about Cyber Monday is that you can get some of those Black Friday deals that have already passed without having to fight that crowd and be out at two in the morning. You can just sit there at the computer and just shop online," said Jill Cataldo who's known as the "super-coupon queen".

Shopping experts agree that this year, it will pay to shop early.

"This is a good kick off week. We will see things continue for probably the next two weeks, but believe it or not that last week before Christmas; we see the prices tend to creep up just a little bit," Jill said.

"They're not going to have an excess of inventory and so they won't need to slash prices at the end of the season," explained Andrea.

To make the most of the Cyber Monday deals, first, make a list and a budget and stick to them. Then search the items online to compare prices.

Once you find the best deal, it's time to do another search this time for a coupon code to put in that empty "promotional code" box on the checkout page.

"Type in the name of the retailer that you're shopping and then, I like to type "free shipping" that's a good one or "coupon code" or "discount code" and that will usually bring up a site that will have a lot of those different codes listed," Jill said.

Andrea likes to use CouponWinner.com, PromoCodes.com and PromotionalCodes.com all of which have special sections devoted to Cyber Monday deals.

"You go to those sites and click on the cyber Monday banner, and in one page, you have all the sales, coupons in one place for you to quickly compare and you don't miss out on a single offer," Andrea said.

And of course, we have dozens of coupon codes listed in alphabetical order on our Saving with 6abc Codes and Coupons page, some of which are good for today, others that you can use throughout the holiday season and beyond.
