Police: Mom left kids alone to do drugs

WILMINGTON, Del. - November 26, 2010

Police say it all began Tuesday afternoon when the 6-year-old son of Amanda Hill, 25, called his grandmother to say Hill was 'not acting right' and kept falling down.

The boy's one-year-old brother was also in the home.

Police were contacted and officers responded to Hill's home in the 100 block of Scarborough Drive in the Mill Creek Village Apartments.

The investigators say they learned that Hill had met with a friend earlier in the day and smoked a PCP-laced cigarette while her children were left unattended in the apartment.

Hill was at home when police arrived, but they say she was very lethargic and disoriented.

The Division of Family Services was contacted and responded to the residence. They took custody of the children and placed them with a family member.

Hill was arrested and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and consumption of PCP.

She was arraigned and released on $1500 unsecured bond and was ordered to have no contact with the children.
