Driver, 90, hits Pa. post office in gift rush

OLIVER, Pa. (AP) - December 1, 2010

Oliver postmaster Kathy Doherty says the woman who suffers from poor eyesight hit the post office before crashing into a garage next door on Monday. The woman was not seriously hurt, but the postmaster says the driver wasn't worried about the crash.

Doherty tells WTAE-TV that, "We ran in to see if she was OK and she was so upset because she had mail she wanted to deliver and bring to me."

Doherty says the woman refused to get out of the vehicle to accept assistance until the postmaster assured her the gift would be mailed.

The post office is in North Union Township, about 35 miles south of Pittsburgh.
