Pa. school superintendent charged with DUI

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - December 4, 2010

State College Area School District Superintendent Richard Mextorf was charged Friday with driving under the influence.

The Centre Daily Times reports that Mextorf was arrested around 8 a.m. Nov. 18 after police observed his car weaving near the town of Mill Hall.

The criminal complaint says Mextorf's blood-alcohol level measured .316. The legal limit for driving is .08.

Charges were delayed because the trooper who made the arrest was on military duty.

Mextorf has been placed on leave. He released a statement saying he is "embarrassed and ashamed" but intends to be accountable for his actions.
