Pa. teen found delinquent for choking game mishap

EASTON, Pa. - December 8, 2010

Fifteen-year-old Tyler Transue admitted to placing a chokehold on 14-year-old Maxwell Wasilewski while they were waiting for gym class to start last month at Nazareth Area High School. Wasilewski passed out and fell to the floor, suffering a broken nose, a concussion and cuts that required 22 stitches.

Transue says he didn't mean to hurt his friend. Several teenagers testified Tuesday that the chokehold game is popular among students who try to make each other "tap out," or quit.

Northampton County Judge Kimberly McFadden called the behavior ridiculous and found Transue delinquent.

He will learn his punishment at a later hearing, according to The Express-Times of Easton and The Morning Call of Allentown.
