It happened just before 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Ridley Township.
Township police say two men burglarized an apartment on the 600 block of South Avenue.
When a township police officer tried to stop them, the suspects tried to run him down with their vehicle.
The officer was able to get out of the way and fire some shots at the fleeing suspects. The suspects were caught a short time later.
No one was hurt.
Police recovered an automatic weapon and a safe stolen from the apartment.
