New Castle County police say two teens are injured after an alcohol-related crash in Pike Creek.

A Buick LeSabre crashed into a tree on Upper Pike Creek Road early Sunday.

Police say the driver, 19-year-old Jarrett Avena of Newark, was traveling northbound on Upper Pike Creek Road when he approached a curve in the roadway. He then traveled across the road and hit the tree.

Avena sustained a head injury and his female passenger had a broken ankle.

Police say alcohol and black ice are thought to be contributing factors in the accident. Charges are pending.
